What we do
The Clifton Park Halfmoon Fire District # 1 is a governmental
entity formed under the laws of the State of New York.
It is governed by a five (5) member Board of Fire Commissioners
who receive no compensation for their service. These positions
are elected by the residents, and each term limit is for
five years.
The Board of Fire Commissioners is responsible for the
overall operation of the fire district including administration,
firehouse and grounds, firefighter training, public education,
purchase and maintenance of fire apparatus and associated
tools. The Board establishes an annual budget each year
to cover these associated expenses. Real property tax dollars
are utilized from the budget for district expenses, and
are the single point of income for the fire district. These
tax dollars should not be confused with the voluntary donations
solicited by the Clifton Park Volunteer Fire Department.
There are five additional people who serve as Fire District
officials and assist the Fire Commissioners with carrying
out these tasks; they are Anitra Santoro, Fire District
Administrator; Pam Horner, Fire District Treasurer;
the Fire Chief and two Assistant Chiefs.
The Chief is responsible for overall administration of
the fire officers and fire protection and suppression activities.
The Assistant Chiefs are responsible for equipment, apparatus,
and training related items.
The Fire District is separate from the Clifton Park Vol.
Fire Department, which is a non-profit association of the
men and women who provide volunteer firefighting services
to the fire district. |
